i know your site isn't about elves but maybe
you want to put this on it anyway. i was about 7 or 8 and i was visting
Germany to visit my grandma and uncle. my grandma lives in the country.
it was a few days after christmas and i got a pair of *banoculars* . my
grandma had a garden with veggies and stuff. i saw a young boy running
in the distance i looked through my present and saw the boy. he was wearing
a long green robe. well i was following him with my binaculars and he was
running with a sort of a diagonal towards me. when he got close enough
i saw a look in his face like he was running from something and then i
saw his ears. they were pointed like an elf's. i went inside and told my
mom and grandma but they didn't beliave me but i was posotive i saw him.
lately i have been having dreams
about that day and the boy with the green robe.

"I commune with faeries and nature spirits on
a regular basis. I have had quite a few encounters! They appear as small
lights, but once I did not see just a faerie but an elf (the blue print
patterns of larger plant such as bushes) It's appearance was that of a
child. It was shadowy as it turned behind Central trunk of the bush , away
from me.I did not feel alarmed just interested! I have felt the presence
of angels/spirits such as the angel of the local forest. (She knew the
patterns of everything in the forest unlike elfs that only know the patterns
of their adjoining plant) She showed me her favourite part of the forest
etc...beautiful! I get alot of raised eye brows when I speak of this as
there is so many other connotations that belong to the faerie realm." Thank
you and blessed be, Miss M.Clay

Once upon a time, there
was this little boy. He lived with his mother, oldest sister, and grandmother.
This boy was different from other kids, and he knew it. Every day, he would
take his bedsheet and tie it around his neck like a cape. He would go outside,
pick up his favorite stick and use it as a wand. He loved to pretend to
be a wizard. He would walk around the back yard, which was heavily surrounded
by woods. One day, while playing, he heard the muffled sobbing of a little
boy, no higher than his knee. He walked up to the little boy to see that
he had pointed ears, was wearing a green jacket and dark green pants. He
asked the funny little boy who he was.
"I'm Glenndinn, the gnome." The funny little
boy said. "Can you help me?"
"Sure." The boy said. "What do you need help
with?"
"I lost my hat and I can't find it."
"I'll help you look for it, Glenndinn."
They looked all over the back yard. Finally, they found his hat,
a green pointed hat. Ever since then, the boy and the gnome were great
friends.
I am that little boy. I am Herne Wolf, the human
friend of Glenndinn the gnome.

"I was about 14 and my brother and I were going
to a pond you could swim at. We had to go over a dam and across a large
field. This one time my brother ran in to the woods and I chased him ,
I was way behind him and I saw a big boulder witch was at least 9 feet
high. As i ran upto the boulder I thought I saw my brother jump behind
the boulder, so I ran around the rock once ,and I ran around the back and
looked up the backside to see if he climbed up, but it was to high for
me so i ran back to the front and called my brother and he never answered
me so I got scared and ran out of the woods and saw my brother and he was
almost to the pond. What I saw looked like a black shadow and it had pointed
shoes or toes and leapt like a dancer behind or in to the rock, but because
it was so fast I just thought it was him.My sister who just had her dedication
told her teacher and she said it might have been a gnome. I know what I
saw. She told me to go back and leave a gift for the gnome, but I could
not find the boulder. So I left flowers in the woods and asked the
gnome if it could hear me to accept the gift . Thank you for letting
me tell my story." - JoAnn Shepardson

"I'm in my 30s now but that
hasn't stopped me from knowing there is other life besides ours in this
world. I've had many experiences with weird things, but I've also felt
the presence of fairies, and even saw one outside my bedroom window while
taking a nap one day.
The place where I feel them the strongest is
up at our central Idaho mountain property, where we used to mine gold (maybe
that's what happened to so much of it...but that's another story;) Not
only I, but family members and friends have said they felt strange presences
up there, and felt they were always being watched. I always seem to see
these mini whirlwinds crossing my path and kicking up leaves as if it's
walking with me. I also notice that a breeze always seems to pick up among
the trees when I'm around. They know I'm there. Anyway, back in July 1991,
I was standing just a few feet away from a very deep grove of trees in
an older part of the forest off the main dirt road. The inner part of this
grove is not visible from the road, and that whole country is very isolated
and wild
with a lot of forests and meadows.
Maybe some of the fae moved out West because
it's too populated with humans at the East part of the country. I'm mentioning
this because a close friend had a dramatic experience with a gnome family
in Massechusetts when she was a kid. They all looked dirty and unkempt,
but kindly, and were all traveling to get away from the "big uns" as they
told her. She swears up and down to this day it really happened, and that
her whole family unsuprizingly laughed at her when she told them about
it. Now, her homestate IS overrun by pollution, buildings and crime and
the old forests and wilderness that used to be there is almost wiped out.
As for my experience, I didn't SEE this fairy,
but I FELT her, very strongly! I was alone as I stood in this enclosed
clearing and was about to walk away when I felt the most beautiful female
presence behind me in the trees, and for some reason felt it was above
me, but not very high. The presence was hard to explain. It was ageless,
and natural yet supernatural at the same time. And it was definately feminine.
I sensed she lived there and might have even been a guardian for that wood.
The feeling was so strong it was like she was literally reaching out to
me with her presence, like she wanted me to know she was there. Like she
trusted me, and knew I was different. I might even write a story about
it one of these days, a fiction one. I've been inspired to do that recently
about fairies in general anyway.
This summer, when I go back up there, I'll once
again take some walks to see if I can feel or see
anything. That place is so special to me now. It's always been beautiful,
but now it's no longer lonely. As for the little brownie I saw, that's
what I call him, because that's what he looked like. This guy scared me!
I woke up from a nap in one of our cabins and saw him staring in the window
at me, just for a second or two. I don't know how long he'd been there,
but it made me nervous. One of my friends told me she thinks he's a house
brownie, those little "helpers" who sometimes clean stuff up, and sometimes
rearrange it. They make themselves at home just a like the family cat or
dog. He was weird looking, too. He was all brown and greyish colored, and
had this frizzy curly short hair. He had round eyes but slightly slanted
dark blue eyes and he was REAL short, like 3 feet or so, maybe less.
He was also skinny, and was wearing a short sleeved something or
other that blended with his skin color. I don't know why he was watching
me sleep. If he shows up again, I'll start calling him Tom, for Peeping
Tom! I have no idea what he does, but he seems mischievious though harmless.
My family's had that property since the 1930s, and my grandparents both
came from Ireland and Scotland, so who knows, maybe we inherited their
fairies! LOL!!!
Anyway, as far as this report, I'm dead serious,
and wouldn't make up something like it unless it's in a fiction story,
and even some of those are based on fact. Even where I'm living now, in
a rural part of southern Idaho, I frequently have dreams about them. I'm
very psychic and I think they pick up on that, so it's easier for! us to
connect. Who knows. Anyway, that's my story, and it might be added to if
anything else happens this summer. I'm going up there again as soon as
the roads clear, probably May or June (it's 7,000 feet up, so it takes
awhile for the snow to melt up there!). I'm just happy that if the fairies
are real, and I think they are, that they have a beautiful, unpolluted,
unpopulated place to live that they don't have to worry about losing, and
neither does our human family. Thanks for listening.

"A few months ago, when my mom was experimenting
with her 35mm camera and taking pictures of my brother, two sisters, and
I. When my mom got the pictures developed, I saw a little ball of glowing
light in the background of only the pictures that i was in. I'm not sure
if it was a fairy or not but that's what my best friend thought it was.
It was just yesterday that my friend and I were casting a spell and we
were metitating and she opened her eyes and claimed that she saw my so
called fairy zoom across the room. (We were in my living room after everyone
had gone to bed and it was really quiet.) And every once in a while i feel
like that fairy is in the room with me. Especially when I am home alone.
I have believed in fairies for a few years but i never believed i would
have a fairy watching over me.Now I do."

"I am not sure its wise to tell others when you
see a fairy, for several reasons. the most obvious is they will think you
crazy. But I often wonder if its proper to tell as fairies have their
own sense of right, wrong and just how things should be done.I have decided
to tell so that others won't feel they have lost their mind if they
see one..
last year I took a class in Reiki and it seemed
to open up my mind and senses making me blessed to see many new things
one of which it seems is seeing fairies..One day when I was driving home
something light green in color almost hit my truck but swerved up and over
the window. I said out loud to my dog, "I almost hit that bloody fairy."
than I had to stop and think about what I had just said. a fairy yes I
said a fairy and I knew that is what I had almost hit. I said it so naturally
it was if I had been seeing them all along just had never noticed them
before. I was amazed, thought it a once in a life time thing.
then three days later I was driving again, this time threw a place
that they were cutting down lots of trees and there were three, light golden
and tan fairies just playing between two trees as if they had waited for
me to see them as I passed.
But the worse was when I saw a black fairy. not
knowing proper fairy etiquette I just looked at it as it too I almost hit
with my truck. Than same day I slipped on some leaves slid down a huge
hill and off into a ravine. something I later learned form a Shaman friend
that the lack of my respect caused this fairy to be angered and cause this.
Since than I have learned that its proper to bow your head and tell them
you are sorry for invading there space. The good fairies will smile at
you for your attempt at being polite. But the black fairies are to be avoided
at all cost and never looked upon for you can be sure that bad luck will
come your way. Since than I have learned more
about how to act around fairies and have planted a fairy garden
just for them, with flowers they like and a small bowl with honey in it
for them to eat.
there is a light blue and purple colored fairy
who says her name is meg that comes often to teach me things. Meg said
its fine to tell of seeing fairies because maybe people will be more
mindful of them. Its not only children that can see fairies but older
people as well. I think you have to have a very open heart and mind
as to what you are seeing.Meg is often with people that are very
sick she says so often people look right at her and smile but she knows
they will forget what they have seen or question it and pass it off as
a dream. Because they believe they are grown up and there are no such things
as faires. But those of us who have seen them know better."

"On Christmas eve my great aunt passed away of Lou Gherig's
Disease. She was a strict Christian" woman, and a non-believer in such
things as faries. Shortly before her passing, about two weeks, on up until
she passed, she saw faries. Though she could not speak as the disease progressed,
she could communicate by blinking her eyes and grunting. Apparently they
stayed around her room scattered about. She became furious and grunted
loudly for fear that "we" the non-seeing, would step on them. She starred
at "them" for hours throughout each day. Her daughter, a non-believer remains
distraught at her mother's visions. I am not sure what to believe, but
I think we as humans vibrate on a different level than other mystical things
around us. Perhaps as her passing neared she began to vibrate on their
level and was able to see them. The experience has made me curious, to
say the least and that is how I have stumbled upon this site. Happy hunting
all." - Tracy

"well i dont know what i saw but it was really
weird. it was early in the morning and i was looking outside of my house
at the flowers and i saw somthing fluttering by some purple flowers at
first i thought it was a hummingbird but i doubted it because i live in
the city and you don't see hummingbirds there so i got confused. i couldn't
see it that well without my glasses so my dad got his binoculars and were
looking at it but after a few seconds after he got the binoculars it flew
away. so i'm not too sure what i saw and i'm still confused it could have
been a fairy and it might not have been."

Hi! I thought I'd add my own experiences
with fairies. I'm from Illinois, and lived there until two years
ago. I would take walks in a very nice park in a Chicago suburb,
with woods and a lake. If I was there after dark on summer and fall
evenings, and alone, or with my two children, a group of small (less than
six inches high) fairies would accompany me on my walk when walking near
the forested part of the park. I more sensed them than saw them,
but in sensing them was given distinct visual impressions of them.
They were truly curious about me and my children, and meant us no harm.
It seemed to me that because we were very protective of the nature of the
park, we became immediate "fairy friends" to this group of fairies.
There was a labyrinth nearby, in an adjoining
park owned by a metaphysical group, and a larger fairy, between 4-5 feet
tall, would travel from Ireland to this park through the labyrinth, and
visit this group of fairies. My understanding was that there was
a corresponding labyrinth in Ireland near his home.
The most magical times I had with the fairies
were near midsummer eve, when fireflies would gather above the tall grasses
in this part of the park. Just MAGIC to be there with the clouds
of fireflies and the fairies whispering in my ear.
Once the fairies, out of curiosity, left the
park with me (only about seven of them, the ones more up for adventure),
and took a ride in my car to a local grocery store. Was a great mistake
of mine, for the store was toxic for them, and I barely got them out of
there alive. While I was having my groceries checked the checker
acted quite crazy - started juggling some of the soup cans I had bought,
instead of putting them in sacks. I think he was someone who could
not be on an even keel around the fairies' energy.
After this experience I never let them follow
me home, or hitch rides in my car - but every so often, they would visit
my yard, which was a wooded half acre, next to a stream. They asked
me if it was o.k. to visit my yard, and I said yes, if they would follow
the stream from the park, and therefore not get
lost, and this is what they did. In all my conversations with them,
I would hear them first, and then sense them, and then see them out of
the corners of my eyes. They were very loving and protective of me
and my children, and at times offered to carry messages to someone I knew
who lived far away who I had lost touch with. I never knew if he
received these messages, for we were no longer in touch with each other,
but the fairies seemed to know him (he is Irish).
It broke my heart to have to leave Illinois and
the park, and the fairies who lived there. But, since I felt the
park would be protected and not paved over or some other horrible fate,
I knew the fairies would be o.k.
Just last week, I encountered the fairies again,
in my California home. The first summer I was here we put in a labyrinth,
one reason was so that the fairies could travel here safely, if they desired.
It was with great joy that I greeted my fairy friends. I do believe that,
at least the type of fairies I have met, need humid climes to thrive.
I have only met them on fairly warm nights in summer and fall after dusk,
and only when alone or with my children. The fairies I have met do
not mean me ill. Perhaps it is because I only expect the best of
them. -Sandy from Illinois but now in the much drier California

When I was four years old my grandmother used
to babysit me. I would wander out into her garden and look at the butterflies
that gathered all around the blossoms of her passion fruit vine. One day
when I went outside, I met a tiny woman, she had no shirt on but a skirt
and suede boots. She came up to my knee, but had the proportionate stature
of a grown woman. She looked dark like a native american and I thought
she was an indian because she had feathers in her hair. She talked to me
for about twenty minutes but I don't remember about.
Soon a male faerie came by. He was dressed like
her and I called my Grandmother to tell her that indians were in her back
yard. they scolded me and told me not to tell my Grandmother because she
would think I was crazy and would not believe me. I told the faerie that
my grandmother always beleived me and told her to come inside with me.
She got about two feet into the house and my Grandmother asked me who I
was talking to, I told her a faerie and my grandmother told me to tell
her to leave because she said faeries steal children. (I don't know if
my grandmother was playing along with me or really believed me) so I told
the faerie to leave and she went outside and stood on the lawn chair outside
the kitchen window. She and her companion were trying to get me to come
back out with them. My grandmother told me to tell them I didn't beleive
in them and that that would get rid of them.
So I told them to leave because I didn't believe
in them. The woman started to cry and I told her I did believe in her because
I could see her, but I couldn't talk to strangers. At this point my grandmother
took a broom and started sweeping right where they were. I felt really
bad but they hurried away into the passion fruit vines. My grandma told
me they hated being swept out of the way because that is what witches do
to keep out bad spirits. I told her they were nice and she told me they
didn't show themselves to her so they were sneaky.
I last saw the male faerie peeking behind the
patio wall peering into the kitchen window where I stood looking out for
them. My grandmother noticed me getting excited when I saw him and called
for her cat. She fed him right by the door and told me that the cat could
sense when these creatures would be coming back and would chase them like
mice. I never saw the faeries again but that cat had kittens in the small
clearing in the vines where the faeries had hidden so I am sure she drove
them off. As my familiar, although I didn't know what that was then, I
thank Tiger for
her protection.

"hello, i just recently became wiccan.
i love it. i bought your book "The Wicca Handbook" yesterday and
thats how i found your site. i'm mainly writing this to tell you
bout my encounter with faeires. if you would like to put this on
your site its fine, i jus thought its neat and you would like to hear.
i live in Washington, IL. i never really had any experience with
this stuff till i met my finacee and his friends, who r all wiccan.
i belived in ghost, spirits and such just never had something that would
me that it was true.
about a block from where i live there's a park,
Weaver Park. its loaded with faeires. i've only seen them once,
but i have only been down there once at night. they don't come out
much during the day, or at least what everybody has seen. they
are very picky too. at night if u attempt to use a flashlight they will
fly up in ur face until u turn it off. once u turn it off u notice
that they guide you anywho. so if you ever travel thru IL, gimmie a holler
and you can come see all the faeries. " yours truly, ~Julia

"I only now found your site and will tell about
my first definitive encounter. I will fill in the details on a later date
perhaps. It was a sunny evening at the beginning of summer 1999 and I decided
to go for a walk in the forest nearby, in Moerbeke-Waas, Belgium. At the
beginning of the woods there stand a few Hawthorns. Hawthorns are traditionally
associated with the Faeries, think only of the so-called Faery Triad: Oak,
Ash and Hawthorn. I had rested under one of these trees before and now
spontaneously decided to meditate there. I lay on the ground, closed my
eyes and tried to banish all thoughts. This went succesfully, and I went
on to visualise a specific rune. (This rune was Ingwaz, for further study
see "Runelore" by Edred Thorsson.). At a certain moment I tried to rise
out of my body as I had tried to do so many times before. This time, for
the first time, I was able to leave my body without hindrance and immediately
"the centre of my being" (my astral body) hovered about a meter above my
body.
Three entities stood round me: the Germanic God
Freyr, a meter-high female Fayrie and an amorph being rising from the base
of the trunk of the tree. All three radiated light. Freyr was dressed in
red, the Faery was clad in darker colours, the Hawthorn-spirit was blue.
It is important to know that in Norse mythology Freyr (the brother of Freyja)
was given the realm of the Light-Fairies as a present when he lost his
first tooth, see the "Poetic Edda". Communication happened by thoughts
both ways, extremely fast, clear and vivid. However: I forgot almost completely
everything immediately afterwards. (I would be interested to know if other
people forget so much as well)
The female Faery kept a low-profile while the
tree-spirit grew, diminished, and changed shape all the time. Freyr said
I was welcome in his domain. My guess is that after about half an hour,
perhaps a bit longer, I decided I wanted to enter my body again. But first
I wanted to say goodbye to Freyr who had disappeared into the woods. Without
any difficulty my astral body travelled over the paths, found Freyr, said
goodbye and then returned to my resting body. I awoke and got up. I was
not at all surprised: I had always known this to be possible. I was glad
that I had finally traveled to Alfheim and felt full of bliss. One can
speculate forever if this happened objectively or "just in the head". My
personal conviction is that it happened.... omnijectively." Regards, Axel

"hello, i have an encounter i guess, to share
with you. i haven't told anyone in real life this story for fear
they'd think i was insane. it started when i was about 7 years old. i moved
in with my grandparents, who lived in a subdivision. their back yard (as
everyone else's was in the subdivision) was forest. i had made a new friend,
we'll call her sam. we were sort of tomboys you could say and were always
in the woods playing and building forts and collecting stuff, we did this
almost every day in the summer time.
after a while i started seeing things moving
out of the corner of my eye. it was if people were watching us from behind
trees but would hide when i looked their way. they were about my size (short)
but more... matured.. i guess you could say. i got really frightened because
i thought i was going insane and it really worried me. i didn't let on
to my friend what i was seeing until she started checking behind trees
complaining that she could see someone from the corner of her eye and she
thought my brother was spying on us but when she checked no one was there.
i told her what i saw and we started looking for them.
it turned into a game almost where they'd pop
out from behind a tree or bush long enough for us to catch a glimpse and
then we'd run to look for them. at our age, and not ever thinking about
faeries or anything we assumed it was santa's elves checking up to see
if we were being good or not so we were espically careful to be good for
fear of not getting presents come christmas time. i can remember playing
this 'game' with them almost everyday after that until winter came. when
winter came we didn't go outside in the woods as much and eventually i
put it off to my imagination and didnt mention it to my friend, and she
didnt mention it to me. i still remember the strange feeling i got after
coming inside after playing in the woods with them. it was like stepping
out of a dream state... like when you're woken up from a deep sleep in
the middle of a dream and have to go about your mundane life, except without
the sleepiness. i'd always feel flushed and shaky too. i still don't know
what we were seeing, if it was faeries or elves, or what, but i know it
was something cos my friend saw it too. we never mentioned it after that
and i haven't had contact with her in years. i often wonder if she remembers."
thank you for listening =o)"
