I turned around just to find a fairy wing sitting upon my shoulder. still to this day i still believe in fairies and still have the wing." -lotus

"What would you think if I told you that not only have I seen faeiries, but I got a photograph of one? Because that is the case. I practice Faery Wicca so we are naturally in tune with the fae and nature. Most of the time, the faeiries I see a white balls of light that fly by suddenly. These have been photographed many times, but what I have here is different.
In 2001, my wife, two month old son, and I went to Medford, Oregon to visit my parents for Christmas. They took probably two rolls of film mostly of my baby and us opening presents and such, but one of them turned out a bit different! In the picture, you can see the wall with a framed photograph to the left with the hallway just to the right of that. The rest of the picture is taken up with what looks like fire and a bright white and bluish winged figure in front. This picture was taken with a standard 35mm camera and was in the middle of the roll. No other pictures turned out anything like this. I assure you this is not a hoax! It has not been altered and nobody has been able to explain how this effect could be created. My dad who doesn't believe in much as far as faeries go said he thought it was fantastic and failed to give an explanation that he thought sounded sane!
I sent it to my High Priestess who believes it to be a faery too, claiming that the fire pattern is actually its aura, or lifeforce. As I've been taught, faeries vibrate on a much higher frequency than do humans and are therefore most of the time beyond our scope of vision. They have to consciously lower their vibrations to be seen (or in this case photographed). I've been sending this picture around in the hopes that it will open people's minds but  I know there will be skeptics that will not believe for all the tea in China.
I recall that we were paying a lot of attention to my son (faeries love kids), and that I was showing my mom Brian Froud's Faery Oracle my wife had recently given me. I wonder if these things could have attracted this curious being because it appears to be hovering above something or looking down at something. I hope this can open a few minds." - Cedar Mantis

"We were on a family outing in the New Forest. I had got some way ahead of the others down a side track, and it suddenly went very quiet. I looked hard at a particular gnarled old tree, but don't know why. As I couldn't hear the family, I went back to find them. This was easier than I thought, and then I led them back down the path I had been on. As we came to the tree I had noticed earlier, I looked at it again to try to figure out why my attention had been drawn to it earlier. Leaning against the tree was a bow (as in bow and arrows). It was not full size, being about 4-foot long, and was not complete. There were no notches for the string, but the bark had been stripped off except for a hand-grip, and it was bent like a bow - i.e. it wasn't a spear. The craftsmanship was quite good, but obviously only primitive tools had been used.
I picked it up, and thought no more of it, just played with it as we went along, throwing it to see if it was a spear, etc. We came to a large clearing whose floor was covered with bracken and ferns about a couple of feet high. I thought I caught a glimpse of a small (boy-sized) two-legged figure running across the clearing out of the corner of my eye. It (he) then disappeared in the middle of the clearing and I assumed he had crouched down under the ferns. This all happened in a split second, and then my wife said, "Come back, Victoria." I turned round, and my daughter Victoria was standing by my wife. I said, "There she is, right by you." My wife was very startled and said, "But I just saw her running off!"
It turned out she had seen a figure running in the same direction I had, and disappear at the same point, but she had seen it (him, her?) full on. We went cautiously to investigate, but there were no tracks through the ferns, and no sign of any kind of creature. We were very chastened, and ever since then the bow has been called the 'fairy bow', and it is now in our living-room. I am just a bit concerned that I should have paid for it in some way, or should return it. I did thank them for the gift before I left.
I think that perhaps if my experience in the New Forest had happened to someone in the USA, it would have been put down to aliens. Perhaps there are genuine phenomena (like glimpses into a parallel universe perhaps), which each person subconsciously fits into their own mind-set. So yes, I believe that something happened, and yes, I believe that to say I encountered fairies is as reasonable an explanation as any other, but that doesn't mean that I believe in tiny people with wings who sit around on toadstools. As a matter of fact, that idea of fairies was a 19th century invention, and most tales prior to that describe the 'Little People' as just that - more or less child-sized."

Ever since I was a little girl I have believed in faeries because that is when these things started to happen. I seem to have a problem with things going missing and then being returned mysteriously. For example, I would put something down, leave the room or go do something else and when I came back it would be gone. I would search all around the area where it was and then search the whole
room. It was very frustrating, I would even ask the other people if they had seen it or taken it, and they never would. However, the moment I got other people to help me look for it, then it would turn up in the exact place where I left it. I thought I was losing my mind, and my Mom would say that I just didn't look hard enough. But it was frustrating because it would be in the spot that I checked
several times already. Sometimes, if I was in a rush or was getting really tired of looking, I would just say, "come on you guys this isn't funny anymore" and I would immediately find the item. This still happens every now and then but not as often as it used to. ~Breanne

"Hi, Well, I didn't much believe in fairies until about 2 months ago. See, I keep a journal, and I ALWAYS hide it whenever I go out. And I kept coming home and finding my journal open on my bed with little drawings on the pages. In the end I locked it in a large chest. But still, I'd come home to find it open on my bed. Then, the strangest of events started to occur. I'd be lying in bed and I'd see things zoom past my head. One night, I was reading a book and a small human like being landed on my study sheets. I was scared, but it seemed friendly, it said something and then flew away. That was the last I ever saw of my fairy friends!" Thanks. Rhiannon, Los Angeles.

"Hello. When I was almost 10 years old, living in America,I saw my first fairy. I have believed in fairies with my whole heart. One day I was looking for the keys of my diary, and they were absolutely nowhere. I heard fairies like to steal things so I went outside asked the fairies to give the keys back, and NOW! So I went back inside and went straight for my room. I looked on my dresser, and they absolutely reappeared! A couple days later I went outside and called the fairies,I put some cheese out on my hand, and out of nowhere a HUGE butterfly flew around me for 60 seconds, and then flew off again. I was amazed so I left the cheese bit behind a cattail and came back next morning and it was GONE!!!! I was convinced it was a fairy, and my parents didn't believe me. ~Samantha~

"I'm not sure if this is a real encounter or just a little girl's imagination. I don't remember how old I was, younger than eight though. I was playing Barbies on my couch, alone when I dropped a doll off the couch on the ground. I bent over to pick it up and it was gone. It was even still missing when we moved. I swear it's true. Now, sometimes i think it might have been a dream because sometimes when you're little memories can seem like a dream but it wasn't because I remember it was a Cinderella Barbie and my mother took me to the store to get a new one and now i have two of the same outfits. That's how I know it wasn't a dream. I never knew what happened and I never even thought to think of fairies, but then I remembered that some like to steal things. And after I thought of that, I began to read other things like you know a fairy is around when you feel like someone is watching you or if you feel like a bug is crawling on you but nothing is there. I get that a lot. -Ashley
