"We bought my daughter a fairy door and window from
a web site. It was so convincing that every other evening at dusk we see
green lights and sometimes blue ones hovering over the window and the door.
There is no harm in this." - Chris

When I was about six years old I lived in Kansas
of all places. We had a very small row of trees along an open field that
we always played in. Soon, we decided to clear out a section for our fort.
Being six years old this "forest" was quite large. I spent many hours with
my two brothers perfecting our living quarters. I spent time making a swing
and covered the sides of it with small flowers, so as to make it fit for
the fae. In June sometime of that year, the sun had begun to set. We were
called in for the night but, I had left a doll out by the fort so, I had
to go get it. It was beautifully dusk with the pink sky and the lightening
bugs dancing around me. As I grew close to the spot where I had left the
doll I heard a queer tinkling noise like a wind chime only, softer and
more delicate. I searched around for my doll but could not find her, when
I turned towards my swing I saw what I thought was a lightening bug just
resting there. I wanted to catch it so I slowly crept toward it and realized
that it was too big to be a lightening bug. It was about two inches long
and she had her back to me, with long golden hair. Her wings I don't know
how to describe, they were sort of a medley of colors. Purple, blue, pink,
yellow, and she had a white glow abouther. I couldn't move, I didn't know
what I was seeing. I said hello but, she wouldn't move. She cocked her
head in my direction with a mischievous smile and then quickly flew away.
I thought this was my imagination all along, until a couple years ago when
I discovered faeries once more. I truly believe and will for the rest of
my days leave them gifts. Sorry if this was long, I am a writer so, I had
to get all the detail in there. Thanks. (2002) ~Jennifer
I'm sorry, I just got to your fairy flora page and learned about
blackberries. In my encounter I just sent you it might be added that across
from these trees that formed our "forest", there was growing a blackberry
patch. I am so excited...maybe they were there for them! - Jenn

A long time ago, I moved from my house in Colorado. We had
a big lovely back yard and a big willow tree. My three little sisters and
I wetted the dirt under the shady willow tree, and sculpted the mud to
make dozens of little fairy houses. We made it into a little town we called
Peppermintland, and it even had little wells and food stores full of left
overs from after dinner. We filled a small ditch we dug, with water and
planted little elf sized trees. One day, when two of my sisters were in
the house, my youngest sister, Tanya, and I, were playing at the willow
tree when she pointed out that there were itty-bitty footprints in the
mud next to the hand dug river we made. At first I thought it was just
my little sisters playing a trick on me, but the next week, they went on
a church retreat with my dad, and after they were gone a few days, I sat
on my front porch one night, and stared out at the lovely view of the small
pond that was behind our property. The big willow was about ten feet away
from it, and as looked over by it I saw a little glow and a faded silhouette.
I had always been known as a dare-devil, so I walked down to the tree,
with a flashlight and found nothing but a small pile of smoking sticks.
I guessed that whatever it was must of been trying to get warm or something.
So I ran up to my room, grabbed four or five tissues, and a cotton ball
from my mom's cosmetics bag and went back outside and made the little fairy,
man or woman, a comfy bed in one of the houses near the burned twigs.
It was all nice and made up just like a hotel room. I never actually thought
anything would happen, but when I awoke in the morning, I ran outside to
re-examine the fire wood, and found the bed all unmade and an imprint of
a small person was formed in the tissues. - Brenna

"When I was very young,
around 8, I was walking through a field near my house where I often
went to play. There was this patch of tangled flowers that almost
formed something like a cave. It was the perfect size for me and I
would sit in there a lot. I read stories and saw movies of people
meeting a fairy. I wanted to so I made little houses for them to
come and stay in, inside the little cave. I brought tiny pieces of
cupcakes and little acorn top filled with water. I watched hoping they
would come. None ever did. I had nearly given up.
One day when I was walking
to the cave just to sit, I thought I saw something inside it. I at
first expected it to be a bug or mouse, but I looked more carefully
and I saw a rainbow color. I slowly came closer and recognized it
as indeed a fairy, with rainbow wings. I watched it fly around by
the yellow flowers that grew in front of the little cave. It saw me and
just stayed there watching me as well. I smiled, and not knowing what to
do, just looked at it. It was hard to see, but I think it smiled
back at me. After that it flew farther into the tangled plants, where
I could not reach.
Since then I was praying
for a day when I would see more. I seem to have a thing where I can almost
still feel it there with me, when I still go to sit. Even though this was
many years ago, I remember it like it was today because I never want
to forget my encounter." ~Allison~

"When I was a little girl
I believed in fairies with my whole heart. I took a cardboard box and landscaped
a miniature fairy garden complete with paths, tiny flowers and tiny things
that I thought looked like trees. I hid my box in a secret place, no one
knew about it and it was completely hidden away. Next morning, my
box had tiny footprints in the paths and there were foxglove blossoms filled
to the top with honey. To this day I can't understand my encounter. I can't
honestly say I don't believe in fairies either." -Susie

"Here is my fairy encounter story... One day during
the summer I woke up very early. It was just past dawn so I looked outside
of my widow into my back yard and I thought I saw something glowing in
my birdhouse. I strained my eyes trying to see what it was and then suddenly
something with golden wings almost like a butterfly's wings zipped out.
I looked at it closely as it zipped around and I saw the profile of a woman
but it was so small. Until this day I still believe in fairies." -Taylor
